The Women’s Race / Friday Finishline

TWR Friday Finishline

Empowering women through endurance sport.

Welcome to Week 2 (!) of The Women’s Race newsletter. I’m so glad you’re here.

This week I’m in Sweden with my husband, Mark, for my 2nd Ironman of the pro series in Kalmar, Sweden (a rare no-kids trip!! Huge thanks to my mom and sister!) As I’m writing this, we are actually still in travel…already a day later than planned due to a flight cancelation and it feels like dealing with another delay…

When this type of stuff happens before a race it can be stressful! We prepare so well and then fear things might get derailed at the last minute by things completely out of our control. I have certainly spiraled down this thought pattern myself at times…but it’s important to keep the big picture in mind: The actual work is done. We can (and will) make it in time for the race. There is only so much we can control!

You can control (most of) the preparation, but you can’t control everything that happens around the race. Once the work is done, trust it and don’t let the things outside your control steal your energy.

Happy Friday!!

Jackie

What we are loving right now:

This weeks pod: Nutrition!

This week I had a chat with Marni Sumbal and we covered 5 big questions around nutrition - all things I get asked about very frequently. We tried to cut through some confusion and talked about the importance of finding what works for YOU.

TWR x Bambuwerx Kona Run Hat

It’s pretty and holds ice. What else do you want?! Whether you are in Kona or just want to join in the hype, get one!! Pre-order open ONLY THROUGH AUGUST 20!

More Merch!

We have some Swim, Bike, Run, Have fun shirts and tanks, The Women’s Race tanks and sweatshirt and a TWR casual hat. Thank you for being here and for believing in what we’re building together. If you enjoy this newsletter, I’d love for you to share it with a friend who could use a little encouragement on her own journey.

See you next Friday,

The Women’s Race Empowering women through endurance sport. Hellooooo from Kona!! 🌺 I made it to Kona on Tuesday after smooth travels and am getting settled in. It feels like the calm before the storm that is race week. There are definitely quite a few triathletes here already - many, many pros…but nothing compared to what it will be like next week! For now, I’m enjoying getting used to the weather, settling into the island and trying not to overdo it. I’ll be staying the next few days with...

The Women’s Race Empowering women through endurance sport. Hey everyone! Time is flying now… we’re nearly two weeks from Kona!! 🌺 The weather took a turn here in Wisconsin this week and it is officially feeling like fall… cool temps, rain, and definitely not enough warmth and sunshine to be prepping for Kona! Luckily I only have to get through this weekend before heading out to the big Island! I’ll be heading to Kona on Tuesday, which means things are getting very real around here. The...

The Women’s Race Empowering women through endurance sport. Another week has come and gone...hope it was a good one!! I have to say, I'm truly enjoying Kona training lately. This week I've felt my run fitness finally return and even surprised myself at track this week during a 5x 1 mile descend workout where I was able to get down to my fastest mile of the year, YAY! Considering everything I've been doing both in and out of training, and most importantly how the effort felt, things are...
