The Women’s Race / From Kona!

The Women’s Race

Empowering women through endurance sport.

Hellooooo from Kona!! 🌺

I made it to Kona on Tuesday after smooth travels and am getting settled in. It feels like the calm before the storm that is race week. There are definitely quite a few triathletes here already - many, many pros…but nothing compared to what it will be like next week!

For now, I’m enjoying getting used to the weather, settling into the island and trying not to overdo it. I’ll be staying the next few days with Hannah Berry, and then Mark and the kids will join me. I’m really looking forward to sharing this experience with them - and with all of you!

I have a few commitments next week, so if you’re on the island, I hope you’ll come say hi! Keep an eye on Instagram and/or Strava for details on those.

Overall, I’m feeling good. I’m taking some time to remind myself of all the good training I’ve put in to get here and, come race day, reminding myself that I just need to enjoy it, be smart and be patient. :)

The Road to Kona giveaway series is still going strong, I'm truly impressed with the response!! Each week you are entered to win some awesome prizes from my sponsors, including gear and gift cards from: Zoot (week 1 we gave away $500 gift card!), Garmin (congrats Vera on the watch), Raw (last week), Rudy Project (see below), Blue Seventy and Cuisine Solutions.

The Women’s Race Empowering women through endurance sport. Hey everyone! Time is flying now… we’re nearly two weeks from Kona!! 🌺 The weather took a turn here in Wisconsin this week and it is officially feeling like fall… cool temps, rain, and definitely not enough warmth and sunshine to be prepping for Kona! Luckily I only have to get through this weekend before heading out to the big Island! I’ll be heading to Kona on Tuesday, which means things are getting very real around here. The...

The Women’s Race Empowering women through endurance sport. Another week has come and gone...hope it was a good one!! I have to say, I'm truly enjoying Kona training lately. This week I've felt my run fitness finally return and even surprised myself at track this week during a 5x 1 mile descend workout where I was able to get down to my fastest mile of the year, YAY! Considering everything I've been doing both in and out of training, and most importantly how the effort felt, things are...

The Women’s Race Empowering women through endurance sport. Welcome to The Women’s Race newsletter. I’m so glad you’re here. I’m getting into some deep Kona training, kids school and sports, but Mark is home from his big hunting trip out west so life feels slightly more sustainable :) Although it’s not leaving too many spare brain cells for writing…hope you understand! The Road to Kona giveaway series is going strong!! Each week you are entered to win some awesome prizes from my sponsors,...
