TWR Friday Finishline

Empowering women through endurance sport.

Welcome to The Women’s Race newsletter. I’m so glad you’re here.

I’m back home in Wisconsin after some pretty messed up travel home from Ironman Kalmar, and I’m happy to report that my quads are finally functional again. I’m back in the pool, easing back into training, and curious to see how the recovery goes.

Championship season is coming up QUICK, which means I need to make a decision soon: do I head to Nice for 70.3 Worlds, or stay home, get some good training in, and put all my focus toward Kona? All pending recovery - so stay tuned!

Either way, I’m excited to get into the final stretch of the season and see what I can do.

And Kalmar? Overall, an awesome experience. It’s definitely a race I’d recommend if you’re looking for a good race-cation and/or a really well-supported course. (And yes, I’ll have more on the actual racing in the podcast!)

Read on for what’s happening on this week’s pod, some things I’m thinking about, and more from The Women’s Race.

What we are loving right now:

This weeks pod

This week I got to chat with super swimmer and super human Rachel Zelinskas after we both raced at Ironman Kalmar. Rachel was one of the few that took on the challenge of this race just 4 weeks after Ironman Lake Placid! So impressive!

Ironman Pro Series Heating up

5 scores - to maximize by completing 3 fulls and 2 70.3’s. Ironman Kalmar was the last Ironman to score before Kona, so it’s becoming more clear who the front runners are. It’s going to be very interesting to see what happens in Kona and at 70.3 champs…but really it’s the Kona result that is make or break for the top 5 in the series!

My ranking is suffering a bit this year with my sub-par 70.3’s, but I’m still aiming at a solid top 10.

Kineon

MOVE+ delivers 660nm and 808nm wavelengths deep into the joint, stimulating cellular repair, reducing inflammation and improving circulation to the areas that need it most.

I am using this daily - highly recommend!

Thank you for being here and for believing in what we’re building together. If you enjoy this newsletter, I’d love for you to share it with a friend who could use a little encouragement on her own journey.

See you next Friday,

Jackie

The Women’s Race Empowering women through endurance sport. Hellooooo from Kona!! 🌺 I made it to Kona on Tuesday after smooth travels and am getting settled in. It feels like the calm before the storm that is race week. There are definitely quite a few triathletes here already - many, many pros…but nothing compared to what it will be like next week! For now, I’m enjoying getting used to the weather, settling into the island and trying not to overdo it. I’ll be staying the next few days with...

The Women’s Race Empowering women through endurance sport. Hey everyone! Time is flying now… we’re nearly two weeks from Kona!! 🌺 The weather took a turn here in Wisconsin this week and it is officially feeling like fall… cool temps, rain, and definitely not enough warmth and sunshine to be prepping for Kona! Luckily I only have to get through this weekend before heading out to the big Island! I’ll be heading to Kona on Tuesday, which means things are getting very real around here. The...

The Women’s Race Empowering women through endurance sport. Another week has come and gone...hope it was a good one!! I have to say, I'm truly enjoying Kona training lately. This week I've felt my run fitness finally return and even surprised myself at track this week during a 5x 1 mile descend workout where I was able to get down to my fastest mile of the year, YAY! Considering everything I've been doing both in and out of training, and most importantly how the effort felt, things are...
